Backing Up Part 2

Different Types of Media for Backing Up

Floppy Disk:
Some computers still have floppy disks. They hold only about 1.5 MB (megabytes), which is a very small amount. This will hold quite a few documents, but most pictures and music files will be too big.

CD Recordable\Re-Writable Discs\DVD-R\Blu-Ray:
CD\DVD Recorders have become quite popular, and are reasonably priced. Each CD can hold 650-700 MB. They are a little more complicated to use, but everyone has a CD player, so you can share your files with anyone that has a PC. CD Recordable discs can only be recorded once, but they can cost as little as $.40 a piece. CD Re-Writable discs area little more expensive, but they can be used over and over. CD Burners can use either type of disc. DVD-R discs hold over 4 gigabytes of info, and the newest member of the optical disc family, Blu-Ray, can hold a whopping 25 gigabytes!
